I bought this product with the intention of wiring my whole house, I have kicked off the project and so far the cable has been easy to install with the kit and works as expected.
Everything about the product was as advertised. I didnt use the meter at all. Wonderful value. The crimps worked well, terminations worked well.
Great little package that has everything you'll need. Works like a charm and took us only about 2 hours to run all 4 rooms. Bought this product to run ethernet to all of the bedrooms in my house (no more latency of a wireless connection). We ran cables through the basement and then up through the floor. I Give it 4 stars for ease of installation because you'll have to know how to crimp the cat5e, but this isn't really that hard to do.
There is no mention of which type this is in the description. Definitely not an installation kit. This is stranded cable not solid, therefore it doesn't work for in the wall installation. It works fine for patch cables though.
Stripping the jacket is much more precise and easy with a utility knife (for me). I'd purchase this kit again in a heartbeat. The tester is easy to use and gave me priceless peace of mind that the connections were good. This kit worked great. I doubt I will buy pre-made Cat5e cables anytime soon, I still have a bunch of cable left over.
Wanted to run wired ethernet between two floors of my house. I only used the crimping tool for crimping the RJ-45 connectors, but not for stripping the jacket. This is not a con it's just how I like to do it. Plus it's kind of fun to make your own cables. I finished my wiring project a couple of weeks ago.
The cable is good quality, never had an issue with it. I also made four patch cables to the exact length I needed them.
